Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn went back to his roots as he paid a special visit to his former school Rainhill High, to present a signed shirt to pupils and staff.
The Reds’ youngest ever goal scorer returned to the Prescot-based school to say a special thank you to his former teachers.
Academy graduate Ben, who made his senior debut in November 2016, took part in a special assembly with Year 8 students before presenting the school with a personalised signed LFC shirt. Ben, 17, still attends Rainhil High in the sixth form as part of his scholarship programme.
Woodburn said: “I loved my time at Rainhill High School and the support of the teachers and staff there is fantastic.
“It’s so important to continue getting a good education, alongside playing football, and Rainhill High really helped me with that.
“I’m really proud to come back to the school now after breaking into the first team, and it’s great to show the other pupils what you can achieve if you work hard. It was nice to see some of my teachers who helped me so much.”
