Two local junior supporters who have each faced a battle with cancer enjoyed a special treat this month thanks to Liverpool FC’s Red Neighbours programme.
Thomas McManaman and Stephen Erangey were invited to be mascots for the Reds’ U23s game against Chelsea as part of a project to create memorable experiences for young people.
The boys led the team out onto the pitch prior to the 2-0 victory, and even got to meet Jürgen Klopp and Steven Gerrard, who were both watching the match from the stands.
Thomas, 10, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was 15 months old, said: “When I was asked to be a mascot I was so excited and so nervous.
