Emre Can wants Liverpool to channel the frustrations of Sunday’s home defeat to Crystal Palace positively by finishing the Premier League season with four consecutive victories.
The Reds saw their seven-game unbeaten run in the top flight ended by the Eagles in a 2-1 loss that has damaged their hopes of sealing Champions League qualification.
Philippe Coutinho’s wonderful long-range free-kick put the hosts ahead, but a double from former Liverpool striker Christian Benteke ensured Sam Allardyce’s side returned to London with the win.
Speaking post-match, Can acknowledged that the mood inside Anfield’s home dressing room was one of ‘frustration’ and ‘disappointment’.
However, the midfielder has challenged the Reds to respond by securing maximum points from their final quartet of fixtures – a sequence that begins at Watford next Monday.
“Four wins has to be the target. The next game is Watford and we want to win there and we will see what happens. Everyone is very disappointed because we should have won against Palace,” Can said.
