Lucas Leiva and Alberto Moreno went back to school this week to pay a special visit to local pupils.
The Liverpool duo visited New Park Primary School in Anfield to meet the children and hand over tickets to the Reds’ last home game of the season against Middlesbrough on Sunday May 21.
After joining in with a mini-assembly, Lucas and Moreno took part in a bi-lingual Q&A – in English and Spanish – before presenting the school with the match tickets.
The tickets were donated to the school as part of the club’s Red Neighbours programme, which has seen 55 tickets provided to local schools in Anfield for each home game throughout the 2016-17 season.
A total of 25 schools in the L4, L5 and L6 postcodes – 21 primary and four high schools – will have benefited from the scheme by the end of this season as part of a focus to create memorable experiences for young people.
Lucas said: “It’s always good to come and meet the fans and get involved in the local community.
“Providing the schools with these tickets means they can use them to encourage the children to behave well and work hard, and it gives fans who might not usually get to go to a game the chance to experience Anfield.”
