Jürgen Klopp has explained how qualification for the Champions League could affect Liverpool’s summer transfer plans.
With two games remaining of their Premier League season, the Reds hold a narrow lead over both Arsenal and Manchester United in the race for a top-four finish.
A place in Europe’s premier cup competition is at stake, a factor which Klopp admits could be crucial when it comes to attracting potential targets to Anfield come the summer.
When asked ahead of Liverpool’s penultimate game against West Ham United just how important qualification could be, the boss told reporters: “It probably has influence, that’s how it is.
“The players we are talking to, because they are all good players, I know they have offers from other clubs [and] maybe they play Champions League or not, or whatever.
“It’s important – how it is always important – for the club. Everybody knows it’s a lot of money in the Champions League, it’s not only the sports challenge, even though it’s really exciting, it’s also the money you can earn and as a football club we have to do this too.
